Project info

The Newholme Medical Centre in Bakewell integrates essential healthcare services for the Trust and East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) within a single, modern, and flexible health centre. We collaborated closely with the Trust and EMAS, exploring various options to balance their needs and deliver a viable solution sensitive to the area’s heritage.

Guided by the Peak Park Design Guide and in partnership with the Peak District National Park Authority Cultural Heritage Team, the design emphasises traditional gable forms, small parapet upstands, and contemporary interpretations of historic window and quoin detailing.

Natural light and a muted interior palette enhance patient and staff experience while framing views of the surrounding countryside.
