This project replaces the former Therapy Services site at Harrogate Hospital, including removal of existing RAAC structures, to deliver a new multi storey facility linked to the hospital street.
Designed to enhance clinical efficiency, it introduces a comprehensive imaging department at ground level including MRI, CT, X ray, DEXA and ultrasound with separate inpatient and outpatient pathways, alongside daycase theatres, recovery, and a short stay ward above. Developed through close stakeholder collaboration under Procure23, the design balances complex clinical needs with clear patient flow, dignity, and future capacity, supporting faster diagnostics, increased capacity, and improved patient experience.

“Morgan Sindall engaged Race Cottam Associates to develop and deliver the design for Harrogate Hospital’s £35m extension, providing new facilities for day surgery, main theatres, and the imaging department. Race Cottam has developed the design through all stages from conception through to construction.
"The team at Race Cottam worked tirelessly to make the hospital’s vision a reality; their approach has been most professional, and they have led the whole design team proactively to ensure the design has been delivered in line with the budget timescales within the programme. Paul Foster and his team led workshop-style engagement sessions with the hospital’s staff and external specialists to bring the design to a successful conclusion.
